George's Place

George' s Place is one of my favorite local spots to grab a tasty bite. In particular, they feature the best French Toast (with bananas) in South Jersey, or any Jersey for that matter. This landmark diner has been around for 40 years but only recently has gained a notoriety for it's perfect pitch urban diner ambiance and taste bud dancing culinary treasures.

John, the owner of George's (ha), sets the mood for his funky eatery by hanging wonderfully lively pictures of his family throughout the diner. I love that. The photographs show his family pride and love and make you realize the food tastes so good because he does what he does for his family, and of course, because he loves to cook and is good at it. Here his son looks up to his pop's entrance sign, and to a bright future I'm sure. To me, this photo captures that spirit, and also shows a unique perspective on one of the town's iconic businesses.

Shot taken down by the beautiful, off-the-beaten-path of Higbees Beach. It's cool the way the the birds race by so fast about 2 inches above the ocean surface. I think they're on their early evening scout for surface bugs.

Heavenly Descent

Cape May has a lot of churches, sometimes you'll find 10 within a block. I haven't been inside too many but I have admired from the outside the funky cool doors featuring all kinds of vibrant colors and textures.

I've driven by this particular door a thousand times over the years, but the other day the striking red and oval shape caught my attention amidst the clean white snow that descended quietly from the skies.

About the Framing
To highlight the details, textures and vibrant contrasting colors I chose a weathered, textured frame that compliments the stone textures. I also added an extra wide matte, with a red second matte that plays off the door beautiful color. This does increase the price a bit but I think it really makes for a phenomenal presentation to hang in your home. And don't forget, you can always adjust the custom settings here to suit your needs ad budget.

The Blue Pig restaurant at Cape May's famous Congress Hall Hotel features amazing natural light at sundown, you can sit outside and enjoy your coffee to the beautiful setting sun light. Walking by tonight, I noticed for the first time, really, their super cool outdoor lighting. The old fashioned bulbs with the visible filament seemed to cast a light that lit up the distant clouds. Here, sitting at the Blue Pig, we're looking towards Cape May's famous Pink House landmark.

Heavenly View - St. Peters by the Sea Church

St. Peters by the Sea Church
Cape May Point NJ

This simple little photograph is one of my personal favorites from my entire portfolio. I drove out to Cape May Point last night to photograph St. Peter's by the Sea and its well known front triangular fence. Walking around the empty and semi-boarded up Church, I became mesmerized when I looked through the outside windows and saw the setting sun reflecting through the stained glass windows ? on the opposite side of the church to where I was standing.

So in this shot I'm standing outside on the right hand side of the Church. The sun is setting on the far side of the Church and I'm looking through the textured, almost wrinkled old glass, towards the alter with the stained glass windows refracting the setting sun light behind it. The colors felt like they were painted by Monet. And literally, as they appear here is how they looked that night.

St. Peters by the Sea Church Cape May Point NJ

St. Peters by the Sea is a simple, beautiful old Church built back in 1876 that resides out on Cape May Point. I drove out there last night to take some typical shots of the well known front triangular fence, and became mesmerized when I looked through the outside windows and saw the setting sun reflecting through the interior yellow glass windows across the Church. So in this shot I'm standing outside on the right hand side of the Church. The sun is setting on the far side of the Church and I'm looking through an old, cracked window. The alter is to the right and the yellow windows are high up in the rafters. I love this photograph and know it can be a wonderful addition to any room in your home or office!

Lobster House Schooner

Angry dark clouds rolling in fast to Cape May's Lobster House, one of the busiest restaurants in the country.

That's their famous Schooner, which is always docked. I really like how this image captures a mood and feel of a bygone era, at a time when this vessel was earning its stripes on the open seas. Check out the classic old weathered frame we've chosen that really adds to the story and makes for a perfect addition to any room.

A beautiful Cape May scene with layered metaphors (older couple facing in a different direction from surfers hanging out, the distant horizon). I really like the muted, crisp colors in this photograph and the sense of time and space.

The Lyrical Fireball
c1dbfed2-b214-4a90-8af6-c5a6433f656a
Another indescribably beautiful sunset at the Cove beach looking down towards Cape May point. The building is the old nun convent ? St. Mary's by the Sea which has been the subject of many other photos I've taken.

This shot in particular really has an eternal timeless feel to it. Like it could represent all the perfect sunsets happening throughout the world every day. Or at least that's what I read into it. Ha!

For framing, I've chosen the canvas museum wrapped print. A perfect, textured and simple way to present this image in any room. You can select this framing by pushing the "As Artist Intended" button (or link). Cheers!

Fall Colors

Beautiful sunset colors press through a dramatic cloud formation and cast a surreal light over the controversial Congress Hall beach tents, which should come down soon.

A Cape May Point of View

A picture perfect sunset at summer's end, 2007. There was no retouching to this shot which really you realize how beautiful this part of the world can be.

Beautiful sparkling water set up this timeless image. And we chose a funky cool frame that compliments the slivery blue sparkling water.

This shot from last night's beautiful sunset. I love this perspective; looking over the shoulders people enjoying another good to be alive end of day scene at Cape May's Cove Beach.

We chose a really funky, weathered frame that costs a bit more but goes perfectly with the image. Having said that, this image would also look fantastic as a canvas, museum wrapped and glossy finished print.

Beach Exposure

This photograph is fun and to many people of an older demographic brings a classic song to mind. There's a retro feel to this image that I really like and in a modern black frame with classic off white matte, this shot is sure to bring a beachy, spicy energy to your favorite room.

This is a limited edition photograph.

A Cape May Point of view: from the lifeguard chair

From this Lifeguard chair, the stretch of beach curves around to the left for about a mile and a half, and arrives at St. Mary's by the Sea, a beautiful old nun convent that sits right on the Cape May Point shores overlooking the Atlantic ocean and Delaware bay. From their porch you can even see Delaware on the horizon.

I love this shot. This was taken on another fantastically beautiful evening where the light, shadows and reflections were so perfect. This shot reveals the joy of having fun on the beach.

Timeless image of another beautiful Cape May summer, or a summer anywhere really. I really like how the lines and shapes of his arms, the kite line, the hat, and the background colors all line up line up. The background colors, by the way, come from a huge mural of painted whales on Convention Hall, and a beach umbrella.

Sunset Surfer and Cape May Point
9e7c1304-9be6-4055-ab14-8aa54c102960
This shot really captures the independent spirit of the lone surfer. Out there in the middle of an incredibly beautiful scene, enjoying all that mother nature and a spectacular coastline have to offer on this late afternoon summer sunset. Take note of the structures captured in the background. There's the faint silhouette of the World War two fort (it looks like a solid mass), there's the old and wonderfully historic nun convent ? St. Mary's by the Sea, and of course there's the Cape May Point Lighthouse.

Certainly this shot will look great with a classic black frame, but we've selected a wonderful aged gold frame that frames this scene and it's beautiful golden hue colors in a unique way. This one of a kind photograph and frame is sure to brighten up your favorite room. It's a limited edition print.

A Stegers July 4th
e5070302-6a9c-4a9e-aeaf-9a9a52245403
Stegers beach service has been a Cape May fixture ever since i can remember. The iconic blue and white stands serve up charis, umbrellas and sodas. This particular 2007 July 4th day, the winds were huge.

The Chalfonte Hotel
471d8b2f-a1e1-4e58-9026-82de26d3f76f
One of the grande dames of Cape May, The Chalfonte Hotel is known for its old warm charm and southern inspired hospitality.

These old hallways are so magical. When the ocean breeze blows through the curtains there's a timeless, haunting beauty that fills the hallways. Note how the ambient light radiating through the windows and diffused by the curtains casts unusual light patterns on the walls and ceilings.

I picked a simple classic black frame for this image with a traditional off white matte. This image and frame combination would be a stylish addition to any room.

Cape May history as told by beach tags on a screen
29abc611-567c-4562-b1f1-fe078df00666
Here's another shot captured as I wandered behind Cape May's famous Chalfonte Hotel. This weathered beach house had a second floor entrance whose open screen door had 50 or so beach tags from past summers, stuck onto the screen. Every year Cape May changes their beach tag with a new icon, symbol or piece of art. Seeing all these tags lined up on a typical beach house screen door just seemed so cool, like the most laid back and appropriate way to express, or capture rather, the passing of time at the Jersey shore. In a sleek black frame and classic off-white matte, this photograph communicates simply about the beach, the passing of time and chillin' out at the shore. This photograph will be available only for a short time.

Finding Blake
25cd2a4c-df41-43e8-84b0-8636e16148f0
This shot was captured on a spectacular evening at Cape May's Cove beach during sunset. Amazingly, the molten gold you see here is exactly how it appeared that night as the sun was directly at about 10 o'clock to the angle of my camera here. When I reviewed the shot it reminded me of a classic line from a William Blake poem.

to see the world in a grain of sand
and Heaven in a wildflower
hold infinity in the palm of your hand
and eternity in an hour

We chose a beautiful, classic gold frame to compliment the colors and mood for this image. ~ William Blake

Just a beautiful evening on the beach. As the sun set I captured these girls twirling cartwheels down the beach one after the other, and they reminded me of how much fun you can have on the beach when you let loose a little.

Beach goers gestalt

This shot at Cape May's famous and beautiful Cove Beach captures the energy of people finding their own joys and movement on the beach at sundown.

We chose a classic espresso brown frame with slight distress, to frame this moment in time in a unique and tasteful way.

Childhood Dreams

On Cape May's beautiful Cove Beach at sunset. This scene looked exactly as you see it in this photograph, wild golden hues bouncing off the beautiful ocean waters as the sun set, and capturing this child jumping from his perch on a lifeguard stand.

Hotel Macomber

On Beach Drive, Cape May NJ

The Hotel Macomber, a huge, beautiful turn of the century historic landmark, was the last historic landmark erected in Cape May. It was also, interestingly, the largest frame structure for its time east of the Mississippi.

This shot shows the back of the hotel which I found quite interesting with the fast puffy clouds and deep blue sky lit up from the setting sun to my back.
