With my multi-images, I love to take a concept and then combine my paintings and/or drawings with my digital photos and work with my light pen to sort of weave a story. This brings together the different strands of my life - IT background and love of art and photography.
I love layering my images so that the more you look at them, the more you see. This always draws heaps of comments from viewers and means that the image grows on you as it gradually reveals more.....
I generally print my multi-images in the "large" fomat (just over 20 x 30 inches) and normally frame them in white - a double white mat and plain white frame. They look very contemporary (well I think so and everyone says so!). They also look good on canvas.
Several of my multi-images have won awards when I have entered them in art shows. They have been acquired by both government and corporate clients as well as individuals for their homes. I can absolutely guarantee that they will enhance your wall!
Please contact me directly for more information or to see more of my multi-images check out the galleries on our Marshall Arts website.
Didgeri Blues II
This image was inspired by the street musicians at Bridgetown Blues.
The multi-image is based on a collage of mine (Who's Got the Blues?) and several of my photos of musicians seen around the town streets during the annual Bridgetown Blues Festival. The main character had the whole street jumping to his wild didgeridoo playing.
The original Didgeri Blues was created for an exhibition called 'The Art of Music' (and is a limited edition of 20). In this version, Didgeri Blues II, which is an open edition, I have distorted the image to try and represent some of the spine-tingling feeling of being there.

The Swan - Playground of Perth
Popular award-winning image was created for an invited artists' exhibition 'The Two Rivers Project' displayed at the stunning Heathcote precinct in Western Australia in November 2005.
The City of Perth, capital of Western Australia is on the Swan River and Point Heathcote, Applecross (where the exhibition was held) is where the Canning River flows into the Swan. I contrasted the two rivers, the brashness of the Swan and the quiet mystery of the Canning...
'The Swan seems to me to represent our way of life ? it is the playground of Perth and reflects our outdoor lifestyle ? so many people love messing about in boats.
When I look at the Swan I see rocks, limestone and sand; I see the City of Perth in the distance through the masts of rows and rows of yachts; and I see people quietly enjoying the foreshore ? in this case fishing.'
Jewelled Pool II
Digital art inspired by the water-lily pool at the beautiful Araluen Botanic Park in Perth, Western Australia.
When I first saw the pool I was blown away with the reflections and the jewel-like shapes and twinkles made by all the leaves and flowers. I immediately imagined an artwork combining the jewel-like appearance with real jewels...sssssoooooo...this multi-image combines several of my photos of the waterlilies and crops of a collage with real gemstones on it all layered in with barely discernible life drawings which add to the air of mystery...I hope that you like it because I'm very happy with the result!
This square format version was created specifically for a Webist exhibition "On the Line" in Regen Germany
Cheers, Chris M
The Canning
Popular award-winning digital image (a collage of my photos) created for an invited artists' exhibition "The Two Rivers Project" displayed at the stunning Heathcote precinct in Western Australia in November 2005.
The City of Perth, capital of Western Australia is on the Swan River and Point Heathcote, Applecross (where the exhibition was held) is where the Canning River flows into the Swan. I contrasted the two rivers, the brashness of the Swan and the quiet mystery of the Canning...
'The Canning (river that is) seems to me to be quiet and peaceful with wonderful lights at different times of day - a tad mysterious. I generally look at the Canning through the reeds; I see birdlife, glimpses of pelicans and I see quiet boats, canoes.'

UrbanTextures II
A highly layered digital multi-image; a bit of a statement created from common textures of our urban society - eg clingwrap, alfoil, orange bags ... cut away so you get the impression of someone peering through the layers and layers of plastic etc that sometimes seem to make up our modern day Western-style society
Urban Textures I
A highly layered digital multi-image; a bit of a landscape created from common textures of our urban society - eg clingwrap, alfoil, buttons, orange bags ...
Drawn To The Sea II
Digital art originally created for an exhibition called 'Patterns & Textures'.
I could sit and watch the sea for hours. I love to go a bit zen, getting into the rhythm of the waves breaking, feeling at one with nature and watching all the abstract patterns .....
this multi-image was created from one of my figure drawings layered in with a couple of my collages which feature sand and shells (among other things!) This square format version was created specifically for a Webist exhibition 'On the Line' in Regen Germany

Shrinking Wetlands
This image was created for a Webist project on the impact of climate change organised by Rainer Grassmuck in Wuppertal, Germany.
Leaf Fish II
This image started from me photographing the late afternoon autumn sun through some leaves on our grapevine. I thought that the way the light was shining through the leaves made them look like fish so I layered and blended some of them in with crops of some of my drawings and paintings and other photos.
The Magic Touch
This image was created for a Webist project in Finland, "Handshake or Touch" organised by Heikki Rinnemaa.
It contains layers and layers of part of one of my photos of my niece's hands as she touched the hand of her newborn (and very premature) baby. The layers of hands touching are blended in with two of my other artworks
