My abstract studies in pattern, reflection and shadow grew out of my fascination with serendipity in our visual world. Some things that work well in the abstract are repeating shapes and the random, yet strange and beautiful presentation of unexpected elements when the light or angle of view is just right. With my lens, I take things out of context in order to get to where I want to go, which is often in an abstract direction. What I love most about abstract work is the ambiguity it creates for the viewer. It challenges our sensibilities; our need to make sense of the world.
